Sothern Real Estate Alliance was originally set up under the name of McKenna & Sothern Ltd, in 1969 by George Sothern and Sir Patrick McKenna initially to offer Insurance and Mortgage Products to customers in its 3 offices in Carlow, Kilkenny and Wicklow. In 1970 – estate agency was added to list of services available and with the retirement of Sir Patrick McKenna  in 1984 the company became Sothern Auctioneers.

It is now run by George & Harry Sothern – the company services all major sections of the market including commercial, retail, housing, overseas investment and valuations.  George Sothern specialises in the sale/rent of commercial units, licensed premises, farmland and retail units.

Harry Sothern looks after new residential developments, secondhand residential sales, one off residential sites and over seas commercial  investment. 

In the past we have assisted developers in assessing the potential of a particular site and helped carry the project from concept  to planning to eventual sales. Some of our more recent projects include:

Fairgreen shopping centre. – Large shopping development in the centre of town with Tesco as the anchor tenant.

Shamrock Plaza, Tullow Street, Carlow – A landmark building in a pivotal position overlooking Green Lane and Tullow Street. This is a commercial/residential mix which has been nominated for a LAMA award.

Castle Oaks – a mixed development on the main Dublin Road approaching Carlow comprising  3 4 & 5 bed properties.
