Tenants Checklist

To help you make the rental process a little easier

  • Budget: Decide on your budget before you search
  • Location: Take time to research your preferred locations making sure it safe and secure
  • Transport: Research transport services in the area and near the property
  • Type of property: decide on your requirements and desires
  • Facilities: Make a wish list of the property facilities you may require (lift, wheelchair access, garden)
  • Local Amenities: Take note of the nearby amenities you may require
  • References: Source your references in advance
  • Deposit: Ensure to have your deposit saved and keep your receipt
  • Rent: Research the market value for rents in the area. Get a breakdown of what the rent includes: bins, parking etc.
  • Tenancy Agreement: Review the tenant agreement to ascertain if it meets your needs
  • Maintenance: When looking at properties, ask about what is required from your side for the maintenance of the property (garden, grass cutting)
  • Inventory: Take note of the contents of the property
  • Safety: Check to see if the property meets your safety requirements
