    The Dolmen county

    County Carlow is the second smallest county in Ireland, but it is full of big things to enjoy. Renowned for its beautiful Carlow Garden Trail, this green fingered county also boasts wild gardens at Altamont house and a multi-sensory, therapeutic garden near Carlow town - the Delta Sensory Gardens.

    Carlow is also steeped in history and was actually the capital of Ireland back in the 14th century. It is home to many ancient ruins and monuments, none more impressive than the prehistoric Brownshill Dolmen, which is the largest in Ireland.

    The county of Carlow has lots of small towns dotted around its landscape including Bagenalstown, Leighlinbridge and Tullow. Carlow town itself is quaint and old-worldly with Carlow Castle built around 1207.

    It's just an hour from Dublin, with great transport links, which makes it a grace place to live for commuters.
