The Breifne County

County Cavan is famous for fishing as it has an abundance of lakes, 365 to be exact. It is also the source of the River Shannon and there are many other significant rivers scattered throughout the county. In between the waterways lies Cavan's mini Burren near the Cuilcagh Mountains scattered with hut sites and rock art amongst the limestone.

This historical county also boasts numerous castles and manor homes left from the Norman invasion in 1169. One of the county's main aesthetic attractions is the Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark, with some incredible caves, forests and waterfalls.

It has some of the most fantastic scenery in the whole country and, being bordered by six other counties, there's always plenty to see and do.
