    The Queen's County

    County Laois is landlocked and brings in very few visitors compared to other counties on the island. However, it still has its own charm with lovely countryside and plenty of bogs. It is probably most famous for the Electric Picnic music festival which takes place every September at Stradbally Hall.

    The Slieve Bloom Mountains situated in the northwest of the county are home to the Slieve Bloom Way, providing over 480km of walking trails.

    The county also has a link to its ancient past with the numerous hill forts and ruins in Monelly, Clopook and Skirk and a Bronze Age stone circle in Monamonry.
