    The Wild Rose County

    Leitrim is the least populated county in Ireland, home to numerous lakes and rivers. Lough Allen covers the centre of the county and is great for fishing and water activities. It is also home to the shortest bit of coastline in Ireland at 2.5km long where the county touches the Atlantic Ocean. This sparsely populated county only introduced traffic lights in 2003!

    Carrick-on-Shannon is an important town in the county and is shaped by the River Shannon. It has become a boating hub and offers many activities along the river. Leitrim Village is the gateway to the Shannon-Erne Waterway which crosses the entire country.

    With The Organic Centre and the Ard Nahoo Eco Retreat, Leitrim has become known as the heart of Ireland's Eco-tourism industry.

    For those who want to call Leitrim home, its villages and areas like Dromohair, Manorhamilton and Kinlough have welcoming atmospheres with a great mix of people and great community spirit.
