The Model County

County Wexford has a wealth of history stretching back over 1,000 years. It is one of the best places in Ireland to explore Viking history and is also well known for the significant battles at New Ross and Vinegar Hill in 1798. Consisting of old towns, quaint villages, and sandy beaches, Wexford has lots of diversity and provides something for everyone.

The Curracloe Strand is the longest and most beautiful beach in Ireland, stretching to 27 kilometres long, and was also the location for the D-Day scenes in the film Saving Private Ryan.

One of the world's oldest lighthouses, the Hook Lighthouse, can be found in the little town of New Ross as well as a replica of the Dunbrody ship which carried hundreds of people to the US during the Great Famine.

It's easy to understand why County Wexford is such a desirable place to live. The beaches and scenery add to its relaxed pace of living and the recent investment and improvement of infrastructure is adding to the quality of life in this county.
